Pickup Instructions

If you prefer pickup for your cake, you can do so from me in Gaithersburg (20886). I strongly encourage delivery if you are getting a tiered, sculpted or large cake. You can see a list of delivery fees here: Delivery Fees

The cake should be carried from the bottom only and stay level at all times. When picking up your cake, if you have an SUV type vehicle that has a flat trunk in the back, that is the safest place to put the cake. The area needs to be flat, and free from any objects that may hit the cake in transport. If the cake is small it may fit on the floor of the passenger's seat. The cake cannot be placed on a car seat because it will slide and it will not be able to sit flat. Please keep in mind, when choosing to pick up a cake, once the cake leaves my possession, I am not responsible for any damage that may occur. I strongly encourage delivery if you are getting a tiered, sculpted or large cake.

When you pick up your cake from me, it will be straight from the fridge and cold, because it’s best to transport a cake while it is cold and firm. Once you get your cake to your destination, if you are eating it the same day you can leave it inside in a temperature controlled room, out of the sun, until you are ready to serve it. If you are serving it the next day, or plan to transport it, the cake should be placed in the fridge. If you are transporting the cake, keep it in the fridge until you are ready to leave.

On the day you are eating the cake, take it out of the fridge 3-4 hours before you want to serve it so it comes to room temperature.. For the best tasting cake, it should be eaten at room temperature.

A cake should never be left outside in hot weather or placed in the sun, regardless of temperature. A good rule of thumb is if it’s too hot or sunny for a baby, it’s too hot and sunny for a cake.

Blue Lace Cakes is not responsible for damage from improper handling of your cake.
